Donations, Bursaries and Volunteering
Whilst we are not a registered charity or a non-profit organisation, we do operate on the principle of trying to make the course as accessible to as many people as we possibly can. Thus, our fees are as low as we can make them and still be a viable business with a long term future. We have no financial sponsorship or funding from any external organisations and work on tight margins with a high occupancy break even point, which means every place has to be paid for. This is why we operate our bursary scheme, which is paid for 100% by kind donations from our supporters and fellow participants. Whilst it is a lot of money for one person to sponsor a place for someone else, several donations of smaller amounts could cover it, or even make enough of a subsidy for someone to pay the rest.
If you would like to donate to our bursary scheme please send a cheque (payable to "Thanks For Listening Ltd") to PO Box 787, Orpington, BR6 1ET. Please be assured that what ever amount you donate will go directly to the bursary fund and no "administration" deductions will be made from any donation.
We are keen to offer bursaries to young musicians who would otherwise not be able to afford to come on the course. Anybody wishing to apply for a bursary should get in touch with us to find out about the procedure, which includes providing a personal statement as well as proof of any benefits received.
Should you wish to volunteer to help with advertising or promoting the course, this too would be much appreciated and will go a long way to helping sustain the course. Please contact Buster (see the "contact us" page) for information on ways that you can help.
